Government consults on tackling demand

The Scottish Government has launched a consultation on how to challenge men's demand for prostitution, reduce the harms associated with prostitution and support women to exit the sex trade.

The Cross-Party Group on Commercial Sexual Exploitation welcomes this consultation. The group has long called for Scotland to tackle the demand that drives prostitution and sex trafficking, and support those affected by it, by implementing the following measures:

  • Criminalise paying for sex

  • Decriminalise selling sex and ensure the provision of support and exiting services

  • Hold third-party exploiters of sexual exploitation accountable

The consultation is open until 10th December 2020.
