Abolition Scotland Supports Call to Tackle Demand in Modern Slavery Bill

Abolition Scotland strongly supported proposal put forward by Rhoda Grant MSP, co-convenor of the CPG on CSE, to criminalise the purchase of sexual services as a key step in tackling human trafficking.

In their submission on the Draft Modern Slavery Bill, the group argued that reducing demand is essential to prevent exploitation, especially of women trafficked into the sex trade. They cited evidence from Nordic countries where similar laws have deterred traffickers and shifted public attitudes. Abolition Scotland urges the UK Government to follow this example and strengthen the Bill’s preventative approach.
